Are Languages becoming Extinct?

According to The Economist and UNESCO, 53 languages have become extinct since 1950 in America; that’s more than in any other country. As of right now, a quarter of the world speaks three majority languages: Mandarin, English, and Spanish; the rest are at risk or have been extinct for quite some time.
