ATA Conference 2008
This November, Dynamic Language management attended the American Translators Association conference in Orlando, FL. We regularly attend industry events in order to stay connected to trends and changes in the industry, but this conference also allows us to expand our extensive network of professional translators. Our high caliber resources in a wide variety of languages allow us to provide quality translations to our clients, so this is something we are always thinking about.
The ATA provides translator certification in more than 25 language pairs, which helps language service providers find consistently high quality translators, as well as providing resources for the translators themselves to improve their skills. This education and training is vitally important for the language industry. See here for more information about the ATA.
Why use a professional translator?
Outside of the language industry, many people wonder how important it is to use a professional translator. After all, if a person is bilingual, they should be able to translate words from one language to another-they know the words in both languages! However, a truly accurate translation requires more than a dictionary translation of specific words-this can render a translation incomprehensible. Professional translators are trained to convey the exact meaning and context implied in the original, while using correct grammar and natural phrasing in their translation.

Employee of the Quarter
Congratulations to Fabiola Hernandez on being named the "Dynamic Language Employee of the Quarter."
Fabi’s "consistent level of dedication and commitment to Dynamic and clients" has really captured the outlook and mission of Dynamic Language. Fabi has been with the company for almost 9 years. She was first hired as an Assistant Project Manager to the DSHS department and has gradually worked her way into the position of Project Manager. In managing the contract implemented with DSHS, Fabi shares that with the high volume and intensity it’s always important to "stay cool and keep focused on the priorities” for every project. She believes that when you "strive to do your best it makes you feel really good that people see your hard work." Fabi’s management style and work ethic are an inspiration to both her peers and co-workers. "She is a really hard worker; always goes above and beyond the call of duty" claims one colleague. "She is always smiling."

The Cross Cultural
Health Care Program
Dynamic Language has recently made a contribution to The Cross Cultural Health Care for their "Bridging the Gap" Medical Interpreter Training Program. This generous donation will help support tuition aid for qualified applicants participating in the 2010 BTG Training Program located here in Seattle, WA. Since 1990, BTG has been active in providing important training tools and information necessary for interpreters working within the health care system. The training has prepared thousands of interpreters on matters such as their role as an interpreter, the ethics of interpreting, techniques involved in facilitating a patient-provider conversation while remaining in the background, and familiarizing themselves with the extensive medical vocabulary involved. By preparing and training interpreters for situations that arise while working in a medical environment, they will help to ensure better communication between patients and providers within the health care system.

A Classic Winter Recipe from Italy: "Panettone"
The holiday season is upon us and this is a treat we think you'll love! Instead of baking a typical (and sometimes under-appreciated) fruit cake, why not impress your friends and family with this infamous Italian delight? "Panettone" is a traditional Italian bread, usually enjoyed during the holiday season, but is much less dense and more mild in flavor than Fruit cake. You can serve it in a wide variety of ways, such as cream-filled Panettone, Panettone covered with chocolate or almond icing, or after dinner with a little Marsala wine. According to VP, Rick Antezana, the ideal way to enjoy Panettone is to toast a slice for breakfast and serve with European butter along with tea or coffee.
